Telma Ventura

Lab Manager

I hold a BSc in Biochemistry, a MSc in Evolutionary and Developmental Biology and a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, during which I studied developmental haematopoiesis and erythropoiesis. I am now the Correia Lab Manager, and I am committed to assist the team in the day-to-day operations, while diving in the fascinating field of cancer cell dormancy and immunity.

Telma Ventura completed her BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Évora, in 2015, and her MSc in Evolutionary and Developmental Biology at the University of Lisbon, in 2018. She then pursued her PhD at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in the laboratory of Lesley Forreste, where she studied developmental haematopoiesis and erythropoiesis in vitro, using models of induced pluripotent stem cell differentiation into immune cells. In 2023, she became a research assistant in Antonella Fidanza's lab, still at the University of Edinburgh, where she embraced lab management responsibilities, while contributing to several research projects aimed at understanding the intrinsic and extrinsic signalling driving blood cell development.

In December 2025, Telma joined the Cancer Dormancy & Immunity Laboratory at the Champalimaud Foundation as a Lab Manager, supporting the team's daily operations and research projects, while immersing herself into the intriguing biology of dormant disseminated tumor cells.
